It was just injecting a little bit of humor into the bill
– Rep. Kermit Brown (R), a former Navy officer who added a provision for Wyoming to buy an aircraft carrier, in order to get the so-called “Doomsday bill” dismissed. When news outlets picked up the story they thought he was serious.

FX Developing Animated Comedy From 'Aqua Teen... →
Aqua Teen’s Matt Maiellaro and newcomer Grant Dekernion are penning the untitled project, which would revolve around a man recently released from prison.
Danny McBride and David Gordon Green are also involved.
Though unless that man released from prison is Carl I’m not excited yet.

On the Oscars...
Billy Crystal’s trademark movie intro was fun. But his song and dance number was painful. I saw Tony Bennett earlier and wondered “why is he there?” I guess it was so that someone there would actually know what songs Billy was parodying.
Crystal wasn’t terrible (his Sammy Davis blackface was), but the show wasn’t interesting. When Chris Rock presented he gave some of...

My 2012 Oscar Predix
Best Picture:
“The Artist”
This is a 100% lock.
Best Actor: Jean Dujardin, “The Artist”
This is the closest of the major awards. George Clooney makes logical sense, he’s a well regarded actor who probably gave the best performance of the group. But, Dujardin has the Robert Benigni factor.
Best Actress: Viola Davis, “The Help”
Up until the...

The real winners are...
A few things I noticed from this years Oscar nominated films. There are two big winners this year…
1) France. Hugo and Midnight in Paris both show a lovely vision of Paris, and The Artist is a French film.
But the biggest winner…
2) Nostalgia. Hugo, Midnight in Paris, and The Artist are all very much films about nostalgia, specifically. On a closer look, The Tree of Life is both...

Stuff that bugged me about this year's Oscar...
Here are some of Oscar nominated films from this past year and what things about them bugged me. Note, I did not see two of this year’s Best Picture nominees primarily because I knew they would bother me: The Help, I saw it when Morgan Freeman was in it, and Incredibly Loud and 9/11 because the kid in it had a terribly annoying way of speaking in the trailers (either “hey I’m...

Very interesting article and story.
The writer demonstrates a few of the more problematic issues with public perception of the church, but I don’t fault him for that because it is difficult. I think the increased public scrutiny is a good thing, and while I don’t like Romney or his policies, his candidacy has been good for the Church in my opinion. In part, because it provides an...

As seen on Colbert.
This is creepy. But then again some of this is just deduction. If I got and by a box of highlighters, antacids, and sweatpants, you can probably assume I’m a phd student. But what about people who buy really odd items, like what kind of mailer will they send out to someone who buys a replacement chainsaw blade, viagra, plastic sheeting, duct tape, and adult diapers?

STUDY: 75 percent of Americans will be overweight... →
This won’t happen because I know America far too well. What will happen is that we will change the definition of “overweight” so that only 40% will be whatever the new definition is.

A tremendous write-up on a great and historically significant episode.
Baseball and The Simpsons…my two favorite things. One of my favorite in-jokes that I’m not sure anyone got, was a couple of seasons ago when Mike Scioscia made another cameo, this time as a manger.
