Jacob’s Weekly Spotify Playlist 7/30: Summer Chill/Lazy Summer Playlist

Notes:

  • This Unique Museum released an excellent EP of Killers covers.
  • The Grand Archives first album is a must own/listen. In fact, I probably could have put the whole album on this list. It’s not a perfect album, it’s a bit too cute, but that’s also it’s charm: it’s gorgeous/cute, laidback music.
  • The Coctails were Archer Prewitt’s first band formed when he and its other members were at the Kansas City Art Institute. They’re most famous for their later explorations in Jazz and lounge music.
  • Jason Lytle is most famous for being the frontman of Granddaddy
  • The Sixth Great Lake is something of a side project for The Essex Green
  • Justin Sullivan was the frontman of the punk/post-punk band New Model Army
  • Hotel Lights is the project of Ben Fold’s Drummer Darren Jessee
  • John Martyn was a British Folk musician, a friend and contemporary of Nick Drake, who worked and influenced rock musicians as well.
  • You should really check out the rest of Mojave 3’s stuff.
  • S. Carey plays drums and piano for Bon Iver
  • Medicine Head is an excellent British folk/blues duo, lost in the deluge of similar bands of the time, that was one of the favorites of British music DJ/Kingmaker John Peel.
