Anyone else find it odd that Romney is announcing his VP pick on a Saturday morning during the Olympics?

Generally you want to announce it during the week prior to the convention so that you allow the announcement to get a few more rounds during the news cycle. Typically folks us weekends to announce bad news so that it gets less exposure and hopefully gets lost in stuff that happens on Monday.

The word is that it’s Ryan. This could be that Romney wants this announcement to excite his base but hope that moderates and others aren’t paying attention as Ryan is the guy the DNC is ready to and more than happy to attack, perhaps even more than Romney himself.
