Introducing Jacob’s Favorite Film of the Fortnight

As someone who studies/works in film I always get the question “So, what exactly do you do?” Given that’s a difficult question to answer I’ll throw out something unintelligible and move to the next question which is always “What’s your favorite movie?” That’s an even more difficult question. What exactly makes something a favorite? If it’s what I’ll always stop and watch if it’s on TV it may be something like Hot Fuzz or The Road Warrior (I watched Back to the Future 2 twice last month because I caught it on TV). If it’s something that changed my life it would be something like Winter Light or Citizen Kane. If it’s the most powerful experience I’ve had watching a movie it would be something like The Passion of Joan of Arc or Heaven and Earth Magic. If it’s the movie I’ve seen the most it would be something like Star Wars or Night of the Living Dead.

So, in a very cheesy way to get out of that question, starting tomorrow, I will profile as favorite film of mine each fortnight (yes, the name of this site-2 weeks or so) along with a mini-essay or a quote that shows a bit how I view or why I love the film.
